Plantar fasciitis inserts and insoles are the only way to salvage your current shoes. If you wear the shoes that caused the problem in the first place without plantar fasciitis inserts , you’ll be living with heel pain for the rest of your life.
How do I know? My wife finally cured her plantar fasciitis by wearing shoes designed specifically for this problem. But while she loved the comfort of the shoes, for certain occasions, she needed to wear dress shoes and in the winter, she needed to wear boots.
After the plantar fasciitis went away, she stopped wearing the special plantar fasciitis shoes and went back to wearing her “other” shoes or going barefoot around the house. A few months later, the pain came back with a vengeance.
Don’t make that mistake. Put inserts in all your shoes and boots you want to keep. Here are our recommendations…
Shock Doctor Ultra 2 Men’s / Women’s Insoles, Pair
This is the Shock Doctor Ultra 2 Men’s / Women’s Insoles. We think it’s the best plantar fasciitis insert for the money. It has all the bells and whistles but it’s still reasonably priced. See what you think…
Midfoot dome fills the midfoot cavity, anchoring the foot in place and relaxing the midfoot and toes, which helps relieve plantar fasciitis pain. Integrated full-length control bar links the lateral and medial sides of the heel cradle to control pronation and stabilize the foot.
Deep heel cup stabilizes the heel and helps reduce bone spurs. Forefoot shock pad adds extra shock absorption. Full-length, flexible support arch bridge adapts to the shape of your arch to provide support and help relieve stress on the foot and joints. Antimicrobial cover controls moisture and friction. Spenco for Her Q-Factor Total Support Insoles
We added the Spenco For Her Insoles because we have met absolute Spenco fanatics. People who swear by these products. If you don’t know the story behind Spenco, it was started in 1967 by Dr. Wayman Spence. If you go into a lot of podiatrists offices or sport medicine clinics, you’re likely to see Spenco products hanging on the wall. There’s got to be some reason so many doctors recommend Spenco shoe inserts. Here’s more info…
Firm Q Factor support for body alignment – the Q-Angle providing proper support and alignment.
Stabilizes and cushions with a cuboid lock, gel heel strike cushion and a metatarsal pad. A low friction top cloth adds cushioning and Ultra-Fresh Silpure helps prevent blisters and control odor. Five sizes fits women 3-12.
(Spenco donates a portion of the proceeds from each sale of Spenco For Her to further Breast Cancer initiatives.)

Spenco RX Arch Cushion for Men & Women
Again, we can’t argue with the success or high praise the Spenco shoe insert gets. So here’s one for both men and women. We like this one because it’s made from the Spenco material (Closed-cell, nitrogen-injected). It’s also 3/4 length which makes it much more comfortable for people who just can’t stand the feeling of a full insert. Lastly, it’s got a built in arch cushion that gives you both support and comfort. That seems like a nice compromise to us. Here’s the specs…
Combines the cushioning of Spenco RX Comfort Insole with a soft arch “cookie” that contours with each step to provide support for tired arches. Seven sizes fit any shoe or boot – youth, men’s 6-15 and women’s 3-12. Unconditionally guaranteed for one full year. (We really like this!)

Birkenstock Arch Support Insoles
There’s a reason Birkenstock Shoes are on our website. Their cork footbeds are great for feet suffering from plantar fasciitis. What I didn’t know (until Lisa told me today) was that Birkenstock also makes cork insoles.
So I jumped on the web and did some research and found these. they combine the soft cork footbed with a polymer layer to give you the support of synthetic but the wonderful cushioning of the cork.
I’ll warn you right now. They aren’t cheap. But nothing worth having is. and I guess it all depends on how much your feet hurt. But I’d take this over surgery any day.

ArchCrafters Custom Fit Diabetic Men’s-Women’s Full Length Insoles
Lisa and I became concerned when every time we found an insert or insole made by a reputable company, somewhere in the fine print it would say, “Not recommended for people with diabetes.” If you have diabetes, your foot problems may not have anything to do with plantar fasciitis. But if you have diabetes and you’re suffering from palntar fasciitis, there had to be an insole designed to help you. Well, we found one. Not surprising it’s an ArchCrafters.
These things are amazing. Admittedly, they’re amazingly expensive but they’re a lot cheaper than going to your podiatrist and having him send in the same little box. You pay a lot of money to a podiatrist to hand you a box and tell you to step in it. We recommend you just order the box yourself, step in it, and send it in yourself. Much cheaper. Unless, of course, your doctor is really cute. Then the game changes!

ArchCrafters Custom Fit Men’s-Women’s Full-Length Insoles
You’ve heard of the ArchCrafters box. You open it up, step in it, and send it back to them. Then they use the impression to create an insole exactly matched to your foot. Like a dentist when they make a tooth impression before they make a new tooth for you so it exactly fits your mouth.
You’ll find a lot of podiatrists use these. The big difference here is that when you order the box online, you don’t pay the podiatrist’s exorbitant fees to hand you the box, say ‘step here please,’ and ship it off for you.
These things are not cheap. But the quality is high and you get a product that is exactly designed for you. There’s a lot to be said for custom fit insoles. Especially when your feet are hurting from plantar fasciitis. Of course, that also means you can’t share them with your significant other.

ArchCrafters Custom Fit Golfer’s Men’s-Women’s Full Length Insoles
If you’re a golfer suffering from plantar fasciitis, this is the new equipment you need to buy. No, it’s not a nice graphite shaft nine iron but it will feel as good on your feet as that new club feels in your hands.
ArchCrafter’s sales pitch is pretty interesting. The way they put it, your foot isn’t one-size-fits-all so why should your shoe insert be?
We like that philosophy. However, be warned. a pair of these things is about as expensive as a new pair for golfing shoes. But if your feet are killing you after two hours on the golf course, you’re not enjoying your golf game any more anyway so it seems like a worthwhile investment if you want to be back on the links.

Foot Relief Insoles impact gel insoles
You’ve probably heard of Foot Relief Insoles. The picture gives a nice breakdown of their product. I don’t have Plantar Fasciitis but I use them because they feel so good. They’re based on the idea of reducing shock to your foot with the oil or gel in the insole.
They also use reflexology pressure points to massage your foot all day. If you follow the link, you’ll hear a pretty impressive testimonial from a letter carrier who had Plantar fasciitis and these insoles really worked for her.
My wife didn’t try them but I use them and I felt they should be on the page because they seem like a good option although we haven’t tried them. If you choose to try them, please let us know how they worked out for you.
